Notes for John Gest POWNALL
John Gest Pownall, son of Deborah and the late Levi Pownall, of Christiana, died Wednesday evening from the effects of being prostrated with the heat. Deceased was 45 years of age. On Tuesday he was in the truck patch, and while there was overcome with the heat. At noon he was compelled to go to bed and the next evening died.
Mr. Pownall has been a farmer all his life and after his father's death conducted the farm in connection with the old Jones limekiln, at Doe Run. He was an active member of the Society of Friends' Yearly Meeting and highly respected by the surrounding community in which he resided.
The deceased leaves a wife, who is now in a hospital lying very low. He resided with his mother and besides her, leaves two sisters and one brother, Lydia and Sallie, living at home, and Levi, a prominent physician of that place. The funeral will occur on Sunday.
POWNALL--In Christiana, PA., on July 3d, John G. Pownall, son of Deborah G. and the Levi Pownall, in his 46th year.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral without further notice on First-day, 7th inst. Meet at his mother's house at 10 o'clock and at Sadsbury Meeting House at 11 o'clock.
