Notes for John SCOTT

John came to America first with just his father to look for a better place for them to live. Prosperity was not very good in Ireland at that time. John and his father set said for America first on September 10, 1849 and landed in Philadelphia on October 2, 1849, located a good home there and sent for the rest of his family. The family remaining in Ireland at that time was his mother, two sisters, two brothers and a grandmother who was 100 years old at that time. He was a Presbyterian minister in Philadelphia for two years, later he moved to New York City as a preacher and died in New York City. He never did marry.
