Notes for Evan MORRIS

Evan converted to the Society of Friends in 1683 in Wales and was imprisoned for his faith. He moved with his family to Pennsylvania in 1690 receiving a certificate from his Quarterly Meeting at Tyddyn y Garreg in ye County Merioneth, Wales dated June 8, 1690 which included Evan MORRIS, his wife Gainor and their two children, Morris and Catherine. Evan MORRIS after a brief residence in Philadelphia where he followed the trade of glover.
Certificates of Removal (1682-1750) Philadelphia Monthly Meeting: Evan MORRIS, wife Gainor, and two children, "wch are and hath bin faithfull to ye testimony in ye time of theire Suffring & Imprisonmment: and always Since they were Convinced of ye Truth they walked accordingly." "Also for some years past having his mind inclined for Pensilvania." From Quarterly Meeting at Tyddyn y Garreg for ye County of Merioeth," Wales dated 5 mo. 8,1690.

Evan MORRIS died Feb 7 1708. Gaynor MORRIS died 1712. Morris MORRIS son of Evan and Gainor (b in Krekythe Camarvonshire, Wales Oct. 1677 d Jun 2 1764) m Aug 25,1703 at Oxford Meeting House to Susanna Heath daughter of Robert and Susanna HEATH who came from Tean, 7.5 miles NW by W from Uttoxeter, Strattordshire,England.
