Notes for Marian WRIGLEY

Marian Wrigley Dashiell, of 1161 Woodburn Road, Spartanburg, S.C., died Saturday, Nov. 22, 2003, at her home.
She was born on May 16, 1911, on Manly Street in Greenville, S.C., the daughter of George Wrigley and Marian Chambers Wrigley, both longtime residents of Greenville, S.C. She received her undergraduate degree in English from Furman in 1932 after attending Wesleyan College in Macon, Ga. She continued her postgraduate studies at Wellesley College. She was an ardent conservationist and a member-at-large of The Garden Club of America, a well-deserved appointment to honor a lifetime of devotion to horticulture. She was married to the late Thomas Irwin Dashiell Sr.; they had a wonderful life together. She was previously married to the late Dillwyn Parrish, the oldest son of the American Illustrator Maxfield Parrish (1870-1966) and one of the grandsons of the American artist Stephen Parrish (1846-1938).
Her children are Fredrick Parrish, Stephen Parrish, Dr. Thomas Irwin Dashiell Jr., and Marian Dashiell Ballenger. Her grandchildren are Frederick Maxfield Parrish, Melissa Parrish Pittman, Jenny Parrish Galloway, Susanna Byrne Parrish, Caroline Porcher Ballenger, Marian Roswell Calhoun Ballenger, Clarence Eugene Ballenger IV, Thomas Patrick Dashiell, Michael Chambers Dashiell, Emily Jeanne Irwin Dashiell, and Marshall Alexander Chapman. She is also survived by five great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be conducted by the Rev. Dr. Clay H. Turner on Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2003, at 10 a.m. at the Episcopal Church of the Advent in Spartanburg, S.C.
Burial will be in Gainesville, Ga.
The family is receiving visitors at the home, 1161 Woodburn Road, Spartanburg, S.C.
