Apprenticed to become a carpenter, completing in 1661, and thereafter known as "John the Carpenter". After marrying Lydia, they moved to St. Peter Parmentergate parrish (next to Tombland parrish and not far from Colgate parrish where his rich brother and sister, Bartholomew and Philadelphia, lived.
