Notes for Ethel Catherine BECKER
Hannum, Ethel Catherine, - 94, of Galloway, was born in Egg Harbor City on March 7, 1923 to Frank and Eva Becker of Cologne. She passed away peacefully at her home in Germania Gardens on Friday, November 10, 2017, where she lived for most of her life. She went to school at Egg Harbor City High School. Ethel was a valuable employee at Lenox China for 25 years as a quality control inspector. She was a longstanding member of the Masonic Eastern Stars and she volunteered at the Women's Hospital Auxiliary. In her earlier years, Ethel enjoyed square dancing, bowling, boating, crabbing, and playing pinochle. In more recent years, Ethel rode her bike and bowled in a league. Later, she looked forward to the Atlantic County Senior luncheons, concerts, playing bingo, rummikub, and socializing with longtime friends. At home, she enjoyed watching game shows and the Phillies games while crocheting. Ethel always welcomed visits and phone calls from family and friends. Ethel was predeceased by her husband, Robert F. Hannum and daughter, Carol L. Hannum. She is survived by her son, Robert W. Hannum; daughter, Sharon L. Cohen (Irv); grandson, Jason Wertzberger (Heather); and two beloved great grandchildren, Noah and Adam. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the American Breast Cancer Foundation. Services will be held on Thursday, November 16th at 10:00am at Wimberg Funeral Home, 400 Liverpool Avenue, Egg Harbor City (609-965-0357). Burial will be private.
