Notes for Doris SCULLY
Doris S. Roop, age 87, of Wilmington, DE, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on Thursday, April 13, 2017.
She was born in Pomeroy, PA and was the daughter of the late Marguerite E. (Miller) and Raymond L. Scully. Doris graduated from P.S. duPont HS in 1947. After raising a family, she returned to work and retired from Sears Fashion Center. Doris enjoyed volunteering for various organizations but in particular, SOS Vietnam. She was a 50 year member at Peniel Church, Newport, and was an active member of the choir. Doris especially enjoyed music, cooking, baking and family gatherings.
Her husband of 24 years, Harvey J. Roop, Jr. died in 2004. Doris is survived by her sister, Ramona Harlow; 3 children, Gil Arterbridge, Bruce Arterbridge (Colleen) and Linda Kellogg (Reid); 11 grandchildren, Ashley Arterbridge, Amy Reudter, Mary Reudter, Becky Reudter, Dan Reudter, Stephen Kellogg, Jackie Cinaglia, Doug Kellogg, Michelle Reece, Lauren Page and Adam Arterbridge and 14 great grandchildren. Doris was also preceded in death by her daughter, Deborah Reudter.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to her many caregivers over the years.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 18, from 11am-1pm, at McCrery & Harra Funeral Homes, 3924 Concord Pike, Wilmington, where a funeral service will follow at 1pm. Burial will be Private.
Donations in memory of Doris may be made to Peniel United Methodist Church, 115 E. Market St., Newport, DE 19804.
