Notes for Dale Hibberd CARDWELL

WASHINGTON TERRACE--Dale Hibberd Cardwell, 75, died Thursday, August 14, 1997 at Ogden Regional Medical Center, of a stroke.

He was born October 18, 1921 in Darlington, Idaho, a son of William Henry and Ethel Lillian Hibberd Cardwell. He married Dorothy LaVerne Wordeman, June 15, 1949 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She died October 30, 1983. He married Elizabeth R. Dooley, June 8, 1984 in the Ogden LDS Temple. He was raised and educated in Riverton. He attended Utah State University. He was a member of the Washington Terrace 2nd LDS Ward. He was active in missionary and genealogy work and held various positions in the church. He was also a temple worker at the Ogden Temple for three years. He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the US Army. Mr. Cardwell had been a sheet metal fabricator at Hill Air Force Base, retiring in 1975 after 28 years of service. He loved fishing and farming and enjoyed watching sports.

Surviving are his wife, of Washington Terrace; two sons and three daughters, Kevin (Bea) Cardwell, Ogden; Gerald (Pamela) Cardwell, St. George; Liane (Kenneth) Kingsford, Castledale, UT; Doreen Dixon, Fredonia, AZ; Lenore (John) McEntire, Woodland, UT; two stepsons and two stepdaughters, Patrick (Shellee) Dooley, Anchorage, AK; David (Brenda) Dooley, San Antonio, TX; Sharon (Craig) Cottle, Kaysville; Alaine (Harold) Holmes, St. Peters, MO; 22 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, 19 step-granchildren and six step great-grandchildren. Also surviving are three brothers and four sisters, Lowell (Fern) Cardwell, Midvale, UT; Martin Cardwell, Thailand; John Cardwell, Bakersfield, CA; Ivy (Gwen) Page, Bluffdale, UT; Verna (Clifton) Lloyd, Riverton, UT; Ethel (Robert) Bennett, Alpine, UT; Annie Joy (Ted) Shinsel, South Jordan, UT; two sisters-in-law, Joy Cardwell, Riverton, UT; Vera Cardwell, Roy, UT. He was preceded in death by three brothers and one great-granddaughter.

Funeral services Monday 1 p.m. at Lindquist's Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., with Bishop Reese Housley, of the Washington Terrace 2nd Ward, officiating. Friends may call at the mortuary Sunday, 6-8 p.m. and Monday 12-12:45 p.m. Interment, Roy City Cemetery.
