Notes for Joseph R. Jr. DILEONARDO
Joseph R. DiLeonardo, Jr., age 73, of Wilmington, passed away on December 20, 2015. Joseph was born in Wilmington, DE on May 30, 1942 to the late Mary (Windle) and Joseph R. DiLeonardo, Sr. He proudly served his country with honor and valor as a member of the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Joseph had worked as an auto technician with Diver Chevrolet for over 20 years and then co-owned Wilmington Car Care upon retirement. He had an immense passion for automobiles, belonging to the Good Guys Club as well as Wilmington Automotive Activities. A street rod enthusiast, he also enjoyed membership with Delaware Street Rods. Joseph also possessed a strong love for animals, most notable dogs.
Joseph is survived by his children, Joseph R. DiLeonardo III, Donna Borcherdt (Jerry), and Jennifer Restucci (Michael); grandchildren, Taylor, Samantha, Madison, and Luke; siblings, Richard DiLeonardo and Joannne Lubach (Bob); several nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog and best friend, Angel.
A Committal Service will be held at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Rd in Bear, on Monday afternoon, January 4 at 2pm. Contributions can be made in Joseph's memory to an animal rescue/shelter of choice.
