Notes for Herman Hughes Jr. MCFADDEN
Herman H. McFadden of Wilmington, DE Herman H. “Mac” McFadden, age 84, of Wilmington, DE, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Thursday, June 11, 2015. Mac was born in Chester, PA, and lived in Wilmington for more than 50 years. He was the son of the late Eleanor L. (Mullen) and Herman H. McFadden, Sr. He graduated from Lycoming College in 1953, served in the United States Navy as a corpsman during the Korean War, and later worked as a pharmaceutical sales representative for Bristol Myers Squibb for 27 years before retiring in 1992. Above all, Mac loved his family. His other great loves were spending time at his vacation home in Ocean City, NJ, playing golf with his two sons-in-law, and watching all types of sports, especially University of Delaware Blue Hens football, cheering from the bleachers at all the home games. He will be dearly missed by his wife of 61 years, Nancy (Hill) McFadden; his daughters and sons-in-law, Elisabeth and Charles Barr of Downingtown, PA and Carol and Joel Dahnke of Fairfax, VA; his three grandchildren, Emily Barr Wallace (Ryan), Ian Barr, and Tyler Dahnke (Kara); and by his great grandson, William Dahnke. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 19th at 10:30 AM at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 1502 W. 13th Street, Wilmington, DE 19803. Interment will be private.
