Notes for Charles S. BROOMELL

Charles S. Broomell Sr., 62, of 5903 Lemon St., East Petersburg, died unexpectedly Wednesday at home. Lancaster County Coroner Dr. Barry D. Walp said the death was due to natural causes.

Broomell, known to his friends and family as "Charlie," was a troubleman with PPL for 36 years.

A 1957 graduate of Scott High School, Coatesville, he served in the U.S. Navy.

Broomell served as a Boy Scout leader for Troop 3, East Petersburg, and was a former coach of Little League Baseball in East Petersburg.

He was a member of Lamberton Lodge, Free and Accepted Masons, Lancaster, and was a past master of Williamson Lodge, Downingtown.

He enjoyed hunting, golf, traveling and his cabin in Huntingdon County.

Born in Coatesville, he was the son of the late William C. and Ellen E. Leslie Broomell.

He was married 48 years on Sunday to Sharon Coleman Broomell.

Surviving in addition to his wife are three sons, Charles S., husband of Cheryl Ray Broomell of East Petersburg; Mark, husband of Ronda Ray Broomell of Millersville, and Richard T., husband of Janis Hollinger Broomell of Mount Joy; a daughter, Barbara Ellen of Gaithersburg, Md.; six grandchildren; a brother, Donald, husband of Susan Shepherd Broomell of Honey Brook; and a sister, Jeanie Nye of Coatesville.
