Notes for Eleanor Grace RAMSAY

Eleanor Grace Ramsay Skinner died December 18, 2013, at Cortland Regional Medical Center,surrounded by her family.

She was born February 1, 1920, in Elmhurst, NY, to Ruth Barbara Corey Ramsay and Robert Everett Ramsay.

Predeceased by her husband Frederick James Skinner III, Eleanor is survived by her three children: Kathleen Delsanter of Texas, Christine Koehler of Cortland, and Frederick James Skinner IV (Kathleen Lucy Riseman) of Maine. Her seven grandchildren are Douglas Ramsay Delsanter and Michele Lena Delsanter, Joshua Jonathan Dugan (Rochelle Hansen), Tessa Christine Brown (Brian), Adam Paul Koehler, Emily Grace Koehler; and Gabriel Mayo Skinner.

Eleanor's six great Grandchildren are Stephanie Christine Dugan, Kathleen Grace Hite (Christopher), Taylor Jean Dugan, Reilly Isabel Dugan, Isabelle Christine Brown and Jonathan Charles Brown. Also surviving are her sister Barbara Jane Ramsay Livingston of Connecticut and niece and nephew Carolyn Livingston Johnson and Robert Livingston.

Sons-in-law Charles Douglas Delsanter and Paul Charles Koehler also predeceased her.

Having attended Cornell University, Eleanor taught nursery school and raised her family in the New York City area. She completed her Bachelor of Arts through Goddard College in Vermont and her Master of Science at Bank Street School of Education in New York, NY. She retired as Education Director of the Mount Vernon Day Care Center in Mount Vernon, NY. Shortly thereafter she and her husband relocated to Cortland.

Eleanor was a member of the the YWCA, United University Women, and Fortnightly Club in Cortland, and a past member of the 1890 House Victorian Guild and the Cortland Historical Society. Other memberships included First Families of Westchester County, NY; The New York Genealogical & Biographical Society (Life Member); Civil War Families and First Families, both of Athens County, Ohio; First Families of Colorado; and United Empire Loyalists Association of Canada. She was a founding member and past president of the Westchester County Genealogical Society.

Assisting the family is the Wright-Beard Funeral Home. There are no calling hours and services are private. Any donations in her memory may be directed to Loaves and Fishes of Cortland.
