Notes for William Ridge II COOPER

William Ridge Cooper II, of Montgomeryville, passed away Wednesday, October 23, 2013 in his home surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Marcia Allen Cooper. Born in Abington, he was a son of the late Lloyd and Helen (Custer) Cooper. A graduate of The Wharton School and Dickinson School of Law, Mr. Cooper practiced law for over 60 years in Lansdale. He was the solicitor for Montgomery Township for 27 years and was a member of the American, Pennsylvania, and Montgomery County Bar Associations. During World War II, Mr. Cooper served in Patton's Third Army. He was a third-generation member of the Masonic Blue Lodge in Doylestown and was a Worthy Prince of the Valley of Allentown Consistory. He was an active member of the Lansdale Kiwanis Club, the Bucks County Ski Club, and the Southeastern Pennsylvania Ski Club. Bill was also a lifelong member of Pleasantville United Church of Christ. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughters, Helen Maurene Cooper of Chicago, IL, and Harley Elisabeth Cooper of Washington, DC; brother, Lloyd N. Cooper II and his wife, Jean, of Lenhartsville; sister-in-law, Jacque Cooper of Kutztown; ten nieces and nephews; and 22 great-nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Dr. Charles A. Cooper and Dr. David C. Cooper; sister-in-law, Olive Jeannette Cooper; niece, Amy Cooper; and great-nephew, David C. Cooper III. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 PM and 7 to 9PM Tuesday, October 29 at Huff & Lakjer Funeral Home, 701 Derstine Ave., Lansdale. A brief visitation will also be held after 10:30AM Wednesday at Pleasantville United Church of Christ, 3424 Limekiln Pike, Chalfont, PA 18914, followed by the Funeral Service at 11AM. Entombment will be in Whitemarsh Memorial Park.
