Notes for David J. BARNES

David J. Barnes of Romansville David J. Barnes, 83, of Romansville, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, September 11, 2013 at his home. He was the beloved husband of Dorothy A. Barnes (nee Bedrick), with whom he shared 63 years of marriage. Born in Coatesville, he was the son of the late Edmund C. and Edna Jenkins Barnes. He was a 1948 graduate of S. Horace Scott High School in Coatesville. Mr. Barnes proudly served his country in the U. S. Navy during the Korean War. He was employed as a printer for most of his life. A faithful Catholic, he was a member of Our Lady of the Rosary Church in Coatesville. His favorite thing to do in his spare time was fishing, a hobby he enjoyed more than anything. He also loved shooting pool. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family. In addition to his wife, David is survived by his children, Paula Barnes-Fell and husband, Kenneth, of Christiana, Pa., Beth Barnes-Litwhiler, wife of the late Richard L., of Benton, Pa., Daniel J. Barnes and wife, Lori, of Romansville; and daughter-in-law, Peggy Barnes. He is also survived by his brother, Edmund C. Barnes; grandchildren, Martha, Jennifer, Adam, Alex, Alyssa and Kristina; nine great-grandchildren; and by his nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son David W. Barnes in 2003, and by his sister, Bertha B. Mock. His Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, September 16th, at Our Lady of the Rosary Church, 80 S. 17th Street, Coatesville, PA 19320.
