Notes for George G. III ZIEGLER

George G. Ziegler, III of Coatesville George G. Ziegler III, 90, of Coatesville died Sunday, July 7, 2013 at Brandywine Hospital. Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late George G. and Helen Anders Ziegler and the husband of the late Sarah "Sally" Jaggard Ziegler. He received a Bachelor's Degree from the University of Pennsylvania. Active in the Olivet United Methodist Church for over 60 years, George was a member of the choir, taught Sunday school, directed 3 Hand Bell Choirs, and attended Friday Men's Lunch. An avid music lover, he subscribed to the Philadelphia Orchestra for over 65 years, was a member of the Wayne Oratorio Society, and at Freedom Village, sang in the Barber Shop Quartet and the Village Singers. George served as a pilot in the US Army Air Corps during WWII. In 1983, he retired from Lukens Steel where he worked in the Human Resources Department for 30 years. George is survived by his four children, Susan Ziegler of Northborough, Mass., Tina Ziegler O'Boyle of New York, N.Y., Anne Robertson of Parkesburg, and Jim Ziegler of Cochranville; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by his brother, Wesley Ziegler and sister Isabel Ziegler Vogdes. George's memorial service will be held Thursday, July 11, 2013 at 3 p.m. at Olivet United Methodist Church, Coatesville where family and friends may call beginning at 2:30 p.m. Interment will be private in Fairview Cemetery. Memorials in George's honor may be made to Olivet United Methodist Church 310 East Chestnut Street, Coatesville, PA 19320 or to Spanish Health Ministry 205 East State Street, Kennett Square, PA 19348.
