Ann Wyman Wetherald (Treadway) Schutt, age 94, of Wilmington, DE passed away at her home on Wednesday, October 28, 2015. Ann was born in Boston, Massachusetts, formerly of Stockbridge, Massachusetts, Daughter of the late Rosemonde Wyman Treadway and Royal Winter Wetherald, Wife of Harold S. Schutt, Jr., and Mother of Mrs. Charles, F. duPont.
She was a horticulturalist and artist and a judge emeritus of horticulture in the Garden Club of America, a founder of the Delaware Center for Horticulture, a past president of the Garden Club of Wilmington, a vice-president of the Colonial Dames of America in Delaware, a trustee emeritus of the Christiana Medical Center, a friend of the Winterthur Museum. Ann co-authored a book, "Sailors' Valentines, Their Journey Through Time", for which she and her co-authors were well know and respected. She was a member of the Vicmead and Bidermann Country Clubs.
She graduated from Mount Vernon Seminary in Washington, D.C. and Pine Manor College, Chestnut Hill, Mass.
She is also survived by her brother, Royal W. Treadway of Scottsdale, Arizona, two half-sisters; Mrs. Byron C. Wiswell and Mrs David S. West of New Hampshire, and a half brother, James T. Wetherald II of Newport, Rhode Island.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Thursday, November 5, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Christ Church Christiana Hundred, Buck Road, Greenville, DE 19807. Interment will be private at Lower Brandywine Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to The Garden Club of Wilmington Community Projects, Inc. (GCW/CPI), at Box 3855, Greenville, DE 19807.
