Notes for W. Evans HICKS
W. Evans Hicks Sr., 88, of Unionville, passed away Tuesday, March 19, 2013, at his home.
He was the husband of Evelyn H. Hicks.
Born in Sugartown, Evans was the son of the late Earle E. and Ethel Langley Hicks.
Evans was a lifelong farmer, taking care of the steers until two weeks before his death. He could be found on his tractor, spring, summer and fall, mowing and taking care of the animals, or in his truck on the local roads, faithfully following the Chester County foxhunts.
He was a kind, gentle man and will be missed by many.
In addition to his wife, Evans is survived by sons, W. Evans Hicks Jr. and his wife Ruth, Richard E. Hicks, and James E. Hicks and his wife Linda; one granddaughter, Ashley Hicks Pellak; three grandsons, James A. ‘Jake’ Hicks, Brian Hicks, and Michael Hicks; a great-granddaughter, Aubrey Grace Pellak; and one sister, Phyllis Hicks Wickersham.
He was preceded in death by his brother, John L. Hicks, and sisters, Lillian Hicks, Laura Hicks Pusey, and Marjorie Hicks Crossan. Evans and Evelyn would have celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary the day after his death.
A graveside service will be private.
