Notes for John Paul MARTIN

John Paul Martin, Formerly of West Chester John Paul Martin, formerly of West Chester, passed away Thursday, Feb. 28, 2013 at his home in McDonough, GA. at the age of 86. He was the son of the late Ernest and Pearl Martin of Cochranville, PA. John was preceded in death by his wife Mildred and son John, his siblings: Alice Megin, Ruth Ralston, Winifred Pratt, Robert Martin, and Edith Barnard. John is survived by his wife, Donna Grabill Martin, his son Ted and wife Amanda, and granddaughter Kiley Simone. He also leaves behind his step children, Gary Grabill (Phyllis) and Terri Pearce (Al), along with four step grandchildren and four step great grandchildren. John is survived by his siblings, Norman (Phylis), Carol (Marilyn), Esther Ciereszko and their families. John was employed by Bond Bread Company before working independently in the trucking business for 30 years. Following his retirement in 1980, he moved to Florida, where he enjoyed owning the Gulf Breeze Inn for several years. John was also in the Infantry (WWII) , where he earned a purple heart after being injured in France. He was a member of the VFW (West Chester, PA Post 106), American Legion (West Chester, PA Post 0134), Moose (Pine Island, FL Lodge 1954), and Elks (Pine Island, FL #2781). He was also involved with many events held on Pine Island through the "Greater Pine Island Lions Club". He looked forward to returning to PA every August to visit family and friends. This visit was planned around the "Martin Family Reunion" held in Russellville, PA. John will truly be missed by those who knew him and loved him. A celebration of John's life will be held at Limoncello Restaurant in West Chester on Saturday, March 30, 2013 at noon. In lieu of flowers, you may send donations to "The Greater Pine Island Lions Club" to further their progress on the children's playground project. The Greater Pine Island Lions Club, P.O.
