Notes for George WORRELL

George L. Worrell, 66, of the Lenni section of Aston, a decorated Vietnam War veteran, died May 20 at home.
Born in Upland, he was the son of the late Howard R. and Marjorie VanHorn Worrell. He resided in Chester Heights before moving to Lenni 21 years ago. Mr. Worrell was an ironworker for Temcor, based in California, for 15 years, retiring in 2007.
He was a U.S. Marine Corp veteran, having served during the Vietnam War. He was the recipient of the National Defense Service Medal, Purple Heart, Vietnamese Service Medal with two stars, Vietnamese Campaign Medal, Expert Badge for Rifle and the Good Conduct Medal. He was a member of the Marine Corp League in Upland.
Mr. Worrell was a member of Aston Field and Stream and Ironworkers Union 848 in South Carolina. He enjoyed spending time with his family and took special pride in his grandchildren. An avid trout fisherman, he enjoyed trips to the casino.
Survivors: Wife of 39 years, Cheryl J. Opdenaker Worrell; daughters, Melissa R. Tinley of Bethel, Heather E. Martin of Chester Heights, Courtney L. Nicholson of Aston; Joseph G. Worrell of Glen Mills, Ethan H. Worrell of Aston; sisters, Catherine Dugan of Lima, Marjorie Plotts of Claymont, Del., Deborah Dorrance of Gulf Shores, Ala.; brothers, Raymond Worrell of Butler, Mark Worrell of Quarryville; 11 grandchildren.
Burial: St. Francis deSales Church Cemetery.
