Notes for Robert Alan BRACKIN

Robert Alan "Bobby" Brackin, 67, of West Grove, PA, passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by family on Friday, March 1, 2013, after a seven month battle with an aggressive brain tumor. He spent most of his life in the Borough of West Grove, born June 10, 1945 at the old West Grove Hospital on Prospect Ave to the late Robert E. Brackin and Mildred Lane Brackin.
He worked at the West Grove United States Post Office on Prospect Avenue and retired in 2009 as Postmaster after nearly 43 years of unwavering service. He lived by the inscription "Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds". He loved his employees and customers. He also was a past Ambulance Captain and is a lifetime member of the West Grove Fire Company.
Bob was a 1963 graduate of Avon Grove High School. He enjoyed the company of his fellow classmates and was a member of the planning committee for his 50th year high school reunion that will be celebrated this coming August.
He enjoyed 15 years of marriage with Sandra L. Brackin and daughter Lisa.
Bob enjoyed his retirement by traveling with his family and visiting parts of the world that he had always dreamed of seeing.
Bob's other interests included watching sports with his sons, going to the Red Oak Camp in Clearfield County with his brothers and cousins and spending dinners with his daughter and loving wife. While all of these things were important to Bob, his main priority was being there for his family and he will always be remembered as a dependable family man with a heart of gold.
He is survived by his wife of 31 years Judy (Shellem) Brackin, daughter Katie (fiancé Matthew Azeles), son Bobby (fiancée Felicia Kennedy) and son Jimmy, mother Mildred Brackin, sister Bonnie Russell, brother Richard Brackin (Linda), sister Nancy Waugh (Dennis), brother David Brackin and many loving nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father Robert E Brackin and his brother Ray Brackin. Bob was a loving husband, father and friend to all.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 7, at the Avondale Fire Company, 23 Fire House Way, Avondale, PA, from 10 until 11 am followed by a memorial service at 11. A celebration of life reception will follow. Burial will be private.
