Notes for Irma SCHINLER

Irma S. Way (nee Schinler) passed away peacefully on January 24,2013 at Whitehorse Village,Newtown Square,Pa. She was 98. Before moving to Whitehorse Village, 8 years ago,she was a longtime resident of Devon, Pa. and a summer resident of South Bristol, Maine. She was the daughter of the late Joseph M. Schinler and the late Lulla Schinler. She was born in Winnetka, Illinois on February 5,1914 and lived there until moving to St. Davids, Pa. at the age of 16.She was a graduate of Radnor High School, class of 1932 and Rosemont College, class of 1936 , where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English. She was a past member of St. Davids Golf Club and Wawenock Golf Club, Walpole, Maine, having taken up the game of golf at age 60. She was a long standing member of Questers and a member of the former Junior Service Board. She was an avid and talented artist who often donated her watercolors to the Junior Service Board and to other organizations as charitable contributions. She enjoyed playing bridge and was an accomplished player. She was preceded in death by her sister Isabel S. Graham and in 1996, by her loving husband of 57 years, Gordon Townsend Way. Mrs.Way is survived by a son, Gordon T.Way, Jr.of Shawnee on Delaware, Pa.(wife Cindy) and a daughter, Carol W. Walsh of Newtown Square,Pa.(husband Chuck). Also surviving are 5 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren, and her sister Mrs. Herbert Hersker(Gladys) of Phoenix, Arizona. A memorial service is scheduled for Thursday, January 31,2013 11:00 am at St. Davids Church , 763 S. Valley Forge , Wayne, Pa.19087 In lieu of flowers,memorial contributions may be made to The Brandywine River Museum , PO Box 141, Rt. 1 ChaddsFord, Pa.19317 or Neighborhood Hospice, 400 East Marshall Street West Chester, Pa.19380 Funeral arrangements by Stuard Funeral Home, Ardmore, Pa.
