Notes for James G. HOOPES

HOOPES, JAMES, SR. - of Estell Manor, passed away on December 8, 2009. He lived most of his life in Ventnor before moving to Estell Manor 20 years ago. James served in the US Navy Seabees in the Philippines during WWII.
For many years he worked with his partner and best friend, Joe Connor, in the Connor Ice Co. Most recently he owned and operated his own jitney in Atlantic City. In his leisure time he loved camping, taking walks through the woods, and appreciating nature and the outdoors.
Preceded in death by his father Vincent, mother Mable, and son James, he is survived by his wife Marlene; son William Hoopes; daughter Cynthia Hoopes; daughter-in-law Catherine Hoopes; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
A viewing will be held on Friday 11am - 12 Noon, at the Boakes Funeral Home, 6050 Main St., Mays Landing.
Graveside committal services will be held on Saturday, 11am, at the Atlantic Co. Veterans Cemetery in Estell Manor.
