Notes for Pauline SCHAAF

Pauline S. "Polly" Balderston, 80, died Tuesday in the Mennonite Home after an extended illness.
A Lancaster resident since 1983, Mrs. Balderston formerly lived in Feasterville. She was a corporate auditor for the Internal Revenue Service from 1967 to 1977 and a proofreader for the Philadelphia Gazette from 1930 to 1936.
She and her husband, Hugh E. Balderston, were married 59 years on July 15.
Mrs. Balderston was a member of Church of the Apostles United Church of Christ and was a former member of the Philadelphia School Board. She helped establish the Women's Club of Feasterville.
She enjoyed traveling, needlepoint, playing cards and bowling.
She was a graduate of the Philadelphia Normal School and Philadelphia Business School.
Born in Philadelphia, she was a daughter of the late Christian and Minnie Link Schaaf.
Surviving besides her husband are two sons, Richard H. of Strasburg and Thomas W. of Boca Raton, Fla.; a brother, Walter W. Schaaf of Blue Bell; four grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren, and a great-grandson.
