Notes for Mary Amory COOK

ZANTZINGER MARY A. "POLLY", 98, died Monday, June 2, 2008 at Waverly Heights in Gladwyne, PA. Born March 14, 1910 in Bryn Mawr, PA, she was the daughter of Navy Vice Admiral Arthur Byron Cook and renowned poet and horse woman, Amory (Hare) Cook-Hutchinson. She was the grand-daughter of the prominent and well known Dr. Hobart Amory Hare, M.D. of Philadelphia. She was married for 62 years to C. Clark Zantzinger, Jr., a Philadelphia architect who was formerly the President of Fairmount Park Art Association and the former chairman of the Philadelphia Charity Ball. Polly served on the Board of the Child Guidance Clinic of Delaware County, served 12 years as Board Chairman of Saunders House and for 40 years was a member of the Women's Committee of the University of PA. Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology. She is survived by 2 daughters: Amory H. Stedman of Newtown Square, PA and Katharine Z. Okie of Downingtown, PA. She is also survived by 6 grand-children, 9 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, June 14, 2008 at 2 P.M. at Saint Christopher's Church, 226 Righter's Mill Road, Gladwyne, PA with a reception immediately following. A private interment will be held on Sunday, June 15, 2008 at Saint David's Church Yard Cemetery.
