Notes for Mary Edna HIMES
Mary Edna (Himes) Moore, 84, a retired school crossing guide, died Tuesday, May 25, 2010 at Town Manor West in East Norriton.
She was the wife of the late John W. Moore Sr.
Mary was born in Whitpain Twp. on Aug. 13, 1925, a daughter of the late Elmer and Sarah (Lukens) Himes.
She graduated from the former Conshohocken High School in 1944.
Early in her working life she was employed by the Merion Worsted Mill in West Conshohocken and then by Philco-Ford in Lansdale. She retired, after more than 23 years, as a school crossing guide in Norristown.
She was a life member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Orioles Nest in Norristown. She was also a member of the Hancock Fire Co. and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Hancock Fire Co. in Norristown.
Mary is survived by two children: Barbara A. Hendricks and John W. Moore Jr., both of Norristown. Also surviving are two brothers: Elmer Himes of Florida and Frederick Himes of Spring Mount. In addition, she is survived by grandsons: Kenneth C. Hendricks Jr. and Christopher Hendricks; as well as great-grandchildren: Rachael, Gabriele, Damian, Bailee and Logan.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by six siblings: Emily Musselman, Edward Himes, Walter Himes, Hazel Shaneline, Ellen Petricz and Florence Sheridan.
A funeral service for relatives and friends will take place at 11 a.m. Friday, May 28 from the Bailey Funeral Chapel Ltd, 815-17 W. Marshall St., Norristown. Interment will be held at Gulph Christian Cemetery, Upper Merion Twp.
