Notes for Marguerite G. MENDENHALL

Marguerite G. “Peppy” Mendenhall Rolls, 100, of Lancaster, a former resident of Norwood, died Sept. 3 at the Hospice of Lancaster County.
Born in Harrisburg, Mrs. Rolls graduated from the old Glen-Nor High School, as well as from the Methodist School of Nursing. She earned her bachelor’s degree from West Chester University.
She was the oldest member of the Norwood United Methodist Church, and was an associate member of the Wesley United Methodist Church in Quarryville. She was a member of the Methodist Hospital Alumni, as well as the Delco Retired Teachers Association and the Delta Kappa Gamma Society, Beta Alpha Chapter.
Mrs. Rolls enjoyed crocheting doilies, and would include one with each niece and nephews’ birthday card.
Very family oriented, Mrs. Rolls looked forward to the family cookout each Fourth of July. She was also an avid Phillies fan.
She was the wife of the late Howard E. Rolls. She was the sister of the late Mary M. Congdon, Clarence Mendenhall, Henry Mendenhall, William Mendenhall and Doris Porteous. She was the daughter of the late Clarence H. and Mary Rathfon Mendenhall.
Survivors: Son, Gordon E. Rolls of Carlsbad, Calif.; daughter, Beverly R. Smith of Fresno, Calif.; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Service: 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at the White-Luttrell Funeral Home, 311 N. Swarthmore Ave., Ridley Park.
Visitation: After 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Burial: Glenwood Memorial Gardens, Broomall.
