Notes for Walter Harrah Jr. HAYDEN
WALTER HAYDEN JR., 69, a champion polo player, died Monday of cancer in St. Augustine, Fla. A native of Philadelphia, he had resided in Delray Beach, Fla., for 30 years.
Mr. Hayden, a graduate of Episcopal Academy and Princeton University, took up polo while still in school. He, his brother, Peter, and their teacher, Hervey Swann, together formed a team that won the national indoor polo championship three consecutive years, 1938-1940.
Survivors: his wife, Rachel Hayden; sons, William and Peter; daughter, Moya Litt; two sisters, and three grandchildren.
Services: burial, West Laurel Hill Cemetery, Bala Cynwyd.
