Tarleton Brooke Stabler, 83, of Franklin, N.C., a retired U.S. Air Force lieutenant colonel and Waterford native, died Sept. 13 following a period of failing health.
A memorial service is planned for a later date.
Lt. Col. Stabler was born Dec. 8, 1921, in Waterford, to the late Frederic and Mary Phillips Stabler. As a pilot, he saw action in World War II and had great pride in serving his country. He spent his career in the Air Force.
Survivors include his wife, Annalise Stabler of Franklin; three daughters from a previous marriage, Brynn Pardy of Durango, Colo., Beverley Barefoot of Kentfield, Calif., and Rhoda Paglia of Orlando, Fla.; a sister, Anne S. Parsons of Edmond, Okla.; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, great- and great-great nieces and nephews, and cousins.
