Notes for Charles J. Jr. BIDDLE

BIDDLE CHARLES, of Princeton, NJ on November 1, 2003 at the age 78. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Phoebe Emlen Taylor, their children Charles J. Biddle III of North Salem, NY, Willing L. Biddle of South Salem, NY and four grandchildren; Charles, Katharine, Elinor and Dana. Born in Philadelphia and raised as a river rat at Andalusia, on the banks of the Delaware River, Mr. Biddle attended St. Paul's School and Princeton University, class of 1947 prior to serving in the U.S. Army Air Force as a pilot and navigator. Returning from the service he completed Princeton's Woodrow Wilson School, attended Harvard Law School and graduated from Harvard Business School in 1951. After working at Atlantic Refining Company and Union Carbide he joined International Flavors and Fragrances as a management trainee in 1961. He held many executive positions at IFFincluding area president of North America, Europe, Africa and Asia. He retired in 1985 as a Corporate Vice President to travel, enjoy his beloved St. Barths and his interests in archeology, Caribbean horticulture and animal husbandry. Internment private. A celebration of his life will be held at the Princeton University Chapel.
