Elizabeth P. McCauley, 96, died at Careage of Whidbey, Coupeville, on Sept. 6, 2005. She was born in Cowantown, Cecil County, Md., on July 11, 1909 to Leslie C. and Emma Mary (Cox) Pennock, Sr. Elizabeth lived 92 years of her life in Maryland, spending most of her time in the Fair Hill to Elkton area.
Following high school, she attended Goldey-Beacom Business College in Wilmington, Del., and worked for a time in that city. She was married to Wilton E. Walker for 23 years. After their divorce, she spent the next 34 years working as a secretary for Peoples Bank in Elkton, retiring at the age of 75. During that period, she met and married David R. McCauley of Elkton and they had four happy years together before his death. In 2001, she moved to Whidbey Island to be near her daughter.
Mrs. McCauley is survived by her daughter, Betty (?B.J.?) Elliott and husband Harry of Freeland; by four grandchildren and their spouses: Morgan McCabe (Tony Martin) of Hobart, Ind.; Jann Wilkinson (David) of Caper, Wyo.; Carol Davies (Gene) of Oceanside, Calif.; Bruce Wilkinson (Elizabeth) of Solano Beach, Calif.; also four great-grandchildren: Ian and Kelsey Wilkinson, Rhyse Davies and Sydney Wilkinson; by one nephew Nelson Stubbs of Chesapeake City, Md., and one niece Nancy Sweetman of Newark, Del. She also leaves many good friends.
Graveside funeral services will be held at Rose Bank Cemetery in Calvert, Md., at 11 a.m. Sept. 28 with the Rev. Beth Doty officiating. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Burley Funderal Chapel, Oak Harbor, Washington and Hicks Funeral Home, Elkton, Md. Remembrances in honor of Elizabeth McCauley may be made to Habitat for Humanity.
