Notes for Joshua HADLEY

Joshua was b. 1703 in Ireland, immigrated with his family to Chester Co PA (New Garden MM). On his trip down the Great Wagon Road he seems to have stopped for a period from abt 1748-1755/56 in August Co, before going on to Cane Creek, Orange Co NC, where he died shortly after in 1760. 13th March, 1754. Joseph and David ROBINSON and Edward MCDONALD
appraised ye improvements and value of the stock on ye four sundry tracts
of lands belonging to Joshua Hadley, and his expenses in coming to Virginia
and moving his family there. 115-acre tract, called ye Half Moone, £23, 0, 0. 186-acre tract, called Long Bottom, £30, 0, 0. 400-acre tract at mouth of Craig's Creek, £44, 0, 0. 50-acre tract, called ye Pound Bottom, £10, 0, O. For six weeks' journey in coming to and going from Virginia, at 5 sh. per day, £10, 10, 0. For coming with his wagon, stock and family, six weeks at 20 sh. per day, £42, 0, O. Total, £159, 10, 0.
