Notes for Stacy HAZELTON

Stacy Hazelton, age 85, of Mullica Hill, New Jersey was the son of William Hazelton (1752-1804) and Abigail Wright Hazelton (1755-1823). He married first Sarah Cook (born July 4, 1789) and had three children, one of whom is Congressman John Wright Hazelton. His second wife was Abigail S. French.

Mr. Hazelton was of the Quaker faith and belonged to Mullica Hill Friends Meeting where he is buried. He was a yeoman (farmer) and longtime resident of Mullica Hill living on the edge of town on what is now known as Bridgeton Pike. His homestead now backs up to Ella Harris Park and faces the Mullica Hill Post Office beside the Harrison Township Municipal Complex. This was all his land he purchased at auction from Samuel C. Allen, Executor for Enoch Allen in 1835 where he resided until his death.

Personal Note: In reading the funeral invitation you will see that a lock of Mr. Hazelton's hair accompanied the invitation when it was sent to Robert C. Folwell (a grandson). This invitation and lock of hair was presented to me by a grandson of Stacy Hazelton as a momento for all the work my husband and I had done to restore Mr. Hazelton's home in Mullica Hill.
