Deceased Name: Charles E. Pusey Sr.
Charles E. Pusey Sr., 93, who spent more than 50 years in the real estate business, died of heart failure Jan. 1 in Hanover, N.H. He formerly lived in Wayne.
Mr. Pusey, a descendant of Caleb Pusey, a partner of William Penn, operated on the Upper Main Line and in Chester County. Later in his career, he was involved in designing custom homes.
For many years, he was a member of the Main Line Board of Realtors. He moved to Vermont in 1981 and continued in real estate until retiring in 1988.
Mr. Pusey was active in the restoration of the Caleb Pusey House in Upland, built in 1683 and the oldest house in the commonwealth that was visited by William Penn.
Mr. Pusey graduated from Westtown School in 1925.
He enjoyed organic gardening.
His wife of 47 years, Jane Downing Pusey, died in 1975.
Surviving are sons Charles E. Jr. and Richard D.; daughter Jane Keys; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Sunday at St. John's Presbyterian Church, Berkley Road, Devon. Burial is private.
