1488 - MARSHALL BRINTON, son of Joseph E. and Mary (Marshall) Brinton, of near Thornton, was born there February 28, 1839. He married, first, Hannah J. Baker, daughter of Joseph and Mary (----) Baker, of near Glen Mills. She was born October 14, 1840, died February 28, 1873, in Delaware County, and is buried in Middletown Friends' burying ground. Marshall Brinton was educated in Delaware and settled at Beaver Valley Mills. In 1872, he went west to the Delaware Copper Mine, in Keweenaw County, Michigan, where he held many positions of trust. In 1883, he removed to Wells County North Dakota, near Sykestown. Here he built a home on Government Preemption which was afterward destroyed by fire. He then built again on Homestead entry adjoining his Tree entry, where he still resides. He was appointed one of three commissioners to organize the county of Wells. As superintendent of schools, he organized the the first seven schools of the county. For ten years, he was judge of County Court. He will always be identified by the establishment and personal support of a Sabbath-school at Delaware Mine.

He married, second, September 30, 1874, at Phoenix Mine, Michigan, Rosamund C. Masters. They were divorced in 1896.

Marshall Brinton married, third, in 1900, at Oshkosh, Wisconsin, Mary A. Price. They had no children.
