Age 89, died at home on Wednesday, March 29, 2006, after a long illness.
Mrs. Carpenter was a graduate of Foxcroft School, and attended Sarah Lawrence. She was an avid horsewoman and Master of Foxhounds for the Vicmead Hunt Club for over 20 years. She was a member of the Wilmington Garden Club and the Colonial Dames of Delaware. She was the daughter of Eugene Eleuthere du Pont and Catherine Dulcinea Moxham.
Her husband, Walter Samuel Carpenter, III, predeceased her in 1973. She is survived by a sister, Mrs. Edmond Cooch; her 3 daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth Lea Carpenter du Pont of Wilmington, DE and Palm Beach, FL, Mrs. Anne Bradford Carpenter Bienstock of Walkill, NY, and Mrs. Frederick C. Fiechter, III; as well as 5 grandchildren; and 9 great grandchildren.
Burial and memorial are private.
