Notes for Nellie Dean BASSHAM
Nellie Dean Barnett, 75, of Bishop, died Monday, December 1, 2003 at Bishop Care Center.
Born September 8, 1928, in Arkoma, Oklahoma, she was the third and youngest daughter of Loyd and Lona Mendenhall Bassham.
Mrs. Barnett was a member of the VFW Auxillary in Tonopah, Nevada since 1967.
She enjoyed music and singing and, over the course of many years, had written numerous songs and poems. She also took great pride in her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Mrs. Barnett was preceded in death by her parents, husbands Lester Worthington and W. Jack Barnett, life-partner Thomas Davies, and sister Lucille Peters.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Charles and Wanda Worthington VanderVeen of Etowah, TN.; two grandchildren, Richard Rhines of Virginia Beach, VA. and Andrea Burnett of Barne Barton, St. Budeaux, England; two step-granddaughters, Carolynne Chamberlain of Aberdeen Proving Grounds, MD. and Brittany VanderVeen of Etowah, TN.; seven great-grandchildren; and her sister, Anna M. Spanner of Garderville, NV.
No funeral service is planned at this time at the request of family who will hold a private memorial service at a later date.
