Notes for Russell O. WRIGHT

Russell O. Wright, formerly of West Chester Russell O. Wright passed away on Sunday, October 16, 2016, after a short stay in the hospital. Russell was predeceased by his parents, Nora (Francis) and Granville Wright. He is survived by his wonderful siblings, Francis, Ruth, Doris, Eleanor, and Mary Emma and many wonderful nephews, nieces, grand-nephews and grand-nieces. He is survived by Carol (Empie) Wright and their beloved children, Dan (Veronica); Brian (Nancy); and Sandra (Arnel) Carroll, and his beloved and devoted wife Halina and their beloved daughters Dorota (Kevin) Wright-O’Neill and Terry. Russell was especially proud of his grandchildren, Kate, Liam, Brian, Micaiah, Jessica, Christopher, Taylor, and David. Russell was a proud Class of 1953 graduate of West Chester High School and always credited his high school counselor for changing his life and encouraging him to apply for a scholarship to college. Russell graduated first in his class from Drexel in 1958. He spent many years as an aerospace engineer and executive, retiring early to play the piano, travel the world, and write over twenty books on topics as varied as baseball, the stock market, and education. “I am the master of my fate: / I am the captain of my soul” are the words he lived by and by which he will be remembered. Services will be private. A celebration of life will be held in West Chester in 2017.
