Notes for Lola B. WOOD

Lola W. Swigart, 72, of 440 James St., Honey Brook, was dead on arrival at Brandywine Hospital, Coatesville, after being stricken ill at home on Monday.

Mrs. Swigart was a secretary at the District Justice office in Honey Brook. She served district justices Mary Cowan, Carl Henry, Sue Welsh and Mike Cabry.

A member of the Girl Scouts for more than 60 years, she was honored for 50 years of dedication to Girl Scouting with the planting of a tree in front of the Honey Brook Community Library in 1990. A troop organizer in the district for many years, she was on the nominating board of Freedom Valley Girl Scout Council. She served as Girl Scout leader for Senior Girls, Brownies and Cadet troops in Honey Brook. She also was camp director at Kelton Wood Girl Scout Day Camp, Birchrunville, for 10 years.

She was a member of Honey Brook Presbyterian Church and Honey Brook Women's Club and served on the board of Honey Brook YMCA.

Born in Coatesville, she was the daughter of the late Fred L. and Sara A. Russell Wood.

She was married 49 years to Adam Swigart Jr.

Surviving in addition to her husband are a son, Steven B., married to Karen L. Swigart of Douglassville; two daughters, Kimberlee D. Swigart of Birdsboro and Michele S., married to William D. Uhrich of Reading; two grandchildren; and a brother, Fred R., married to Ethel Wood of Downingtown.
