Notes for Charles Ernest III BUZBY

C. Ernest “Ernie” Buzby, III passed away in his sleep on September 15, 2016 in Houston, Texas at the age of 91. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy S. Buzby who he was married to for 60 years. Ernie is survived by his four children, daughter Caroline B. White, son Charles E. Buzby, IV and wife Cindie, daughter Betsy B. Ackler and husband Joe, and son Andrew K. Buzby, and wife Melissa. He also had 8 grandchildren and a great grandson. Ernie was born in Wayne, Pennsylvania on November 6, 1924 to Charles E. Buzby, Jr. and wife Ethel and had three older sisters. He liked all sports, playing baseball, football, basketball and was a good athlete. After graduating from Haverford School, Ernie served in the Navy during World War II. Following his tour of duty, he returned home and attended Lehigh University. He married Dorothy S. Buzby, in 1950, and quickly started a family. He soon got a job as a Salesman working for International Business Machines. This led to a very successful 33 year career with IBM in the Philadelphia area. The other love of his life, aside from his wife and family was for the game of golf. He was a long-time avid golfer at the St. Davids Golf Club, Wayne, Pa. and developed many long-time friendships there. Ernie and his family were also long time members of the Wayne Presbyterian Church. The family expresses gratitude and appreciation for the care received in Florida and at the Memory Care unit of the Village of Meyerland and later at Seven Acres, in Houston, Texas, during his last three years of life. Ernie will be missed dearly and his memory will be cherished in our hearts always. Any donations in his memory can be made to Wayne Presbyterian Church or the Alzheimer's Association .
