Notes for Charles J. LETO
Charles J. Leto, 92, of Kennett Square, died Monday May 7, 2012, at the Kendal Retirement community in Kennett Square.
He was the husband of Betty Jane Leto, with whom he shared 62 years of marriage. Born in Wilmington, Del., he was a son of the late Oreste and Jennie Sicco Leto.
Charles owned and operated Charles Leto Mushrooms retiring in the 1980's. After his retirement, he enjoyed selling his home grown vegetables and pumpkins from his food stand in front of his home on Hillendale Rd. He enjoyed hunting deer, turkey, bear and pheasant and was a licensed pilot. He was a life member of the Italian American Citizens League, of which his father was a founding member.
Survivors include, in addition to his wife Betty, four sons, Keith (Sandy) Leto of Middletown, Timothy (Janice) Leto of Chadds Ford, Larry Leto of Chadds Ford and Thomas Leto of Kennett Square; two brothers, Robert (Kay) Leto and Victor Leto both of Kennett Square; one sister, Sylvia Faucett of West Grove; six grandchildren, Nick, Craig, Ben, Amy, Abby and Audrey; and five great-grandchildren, Chelsea, Steven, Charlie, Emily and Torin.
You are invited to visit with Charles's family from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 11 and from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday May 12, at the Kuzo & Grieco Funeral Home (610-444-4116), 250 W. State St., Kennett Square, PA 19348. A service celebrating his life will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.
Interment will be in Longwood Cemetery.
