Notes for George Harry PYLE

George Harry Pyle, age 88 of Wilmington, DE passed away peacefully at Christiana Hospital surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, October 22, 2015.

George was born on February 20, 1927 in Wilmington, son of the late William and Irene (Terrell) Pyle. He was a graduate of Conrad High School and was in the Army Air Corp following WWII - serving in the occupational forces in Germany. George also served as a reservist in the Air Force during the Korean conflict. He started his career as a draftsman/designer at All American Engineering and retired from the DuPont Company in 1985.

George was a member of Ionic Lodge No. 31 A.F. & A.M. in Newport, and the Wilmington Scottish Right Consistory. He was a devoted member of Red Clay Creek Presbyterian Church where he served as a deacon and elder and served on numerous committees. After retirement, George enjoyed traveling, gardening, and spending time with his family. He could be found most mornings walking with his friends at Delcastle Park.

George is survived by his wife of over 60 years, Elizabeth Santillo Pyle; and their sons, John W. Pyle (Helen) and Ernest T. Pyle (Lynn); his grandchildren, John W. Jr., Nicholas and Jillian.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday, October 28th, 2015 at Red Clay Creek Presbyterian Church, 500 McKennans Church Road, Wilmington, DE 19808, where family and friends may visit beginning at 10:00am. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, George's family suggests making contributions to Red Clay Creek Presbyterian Church at the address listed above.
