Notes for Lincoln ADAMS

I865 — LINCOLN ADAMS — 1939
Lincoln Adams, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Quincy Adams, was born at Freeport, Illinois July 4, 1865, and died at his home in Sutherland October 5, 1939 at the age of 74 years. For some time he had been in failing health. Two months ago he became seriously ill, gradually growing weaker until Wednesday night when he passed away peacefully In his sleep.

His boyhood was spent in Stevenson county, Illinois, where he received his education and assisted his father on the farm.

In 1896 he came to O'Brien county and in 1898 was married to Miss Betty Pickering of Sutherland. The first two years of their married life were spent managing his father's farm in Illinois. In 1901 they returned to Iowa, living for a time on their farm near Sutherland and for the past twenty years in town.

There remain to mourn his loss, his wife, a daughter Bernice (Mrs Forrest Phillips of Hartley) and a son Harold, of Sutherland; two grandchildren, Alice Ann and Harlyne Adams; two brothers, Oscar of Sioux City and Will of Byron Illinois; three sisters, Mrs. Hattie Wolf of Hampton, Mrs. Florence Clerk of Seattle, Washington, and Mrs. Clara Younger, of Sioux City, also many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Eva and two brothers, Morace and Grant.
