After their second date, Bud told a friend's mother, "I've met the girl I'm going to marry." Born and raised in Yeadon by the late Horace W. McKissick, Sr. and Elizabeth L. Cottingham, he was a graduate of Yeadon High School and Banks Business College. Bud also attended the University of Delaware, taking classes in economics and retailing. A faithful member of the First United Methodist Church of Media for 55 years, he recently served as a trustee. Bud volunteered his time and talents toward any activities his family was interested in, including scouts, the PTA, the Media Upper Providence Library Board, Media rotary Club , Domestic Abuse Project of Delaware County, and the Media Fire and Hook and Ladder Co. #1 Ambulance board of directors. He received his five year pin in recognition of his volunteer service to Riddle Memorial Hospital. Bud was one of "Santa's biggest helpers", spreading the spirit of Christmas throughout Media. He was a member of the American Legion and Grand Lodge F.&A.M. Masonic Lodge of PA. Bud enjoyed bicycling, canoeing, gardening in his own yard and at Rose Tree Park, and investigating the goings on of the world. He and Claire had their regular coffee, eating and socializing spots. They were rarely apart during their retirement. After Claire's death, Bud expressed a desire to volunteer with hospice. He is survived by his son Mark, daughter Linda (David) Cupp, sister Marian L. Schrader, nieces, nephews, furperson "Kitty" and granddog, Fidget. A viewing will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, December 29, at the Rigby, Harting, Hagan Funeral Home, 15 E.
