Notes for Anne Hallowell KLUTEY


Anne Klutey Aquadro, 82, of West Chester, passed away peacefully Sunday, Jan. 20, 2013, at Barclay Friends. She celebrated 41 years of marriage with the late Lawrence (Larry) Aquadro.

She is survived by her brother, Fred Klutey (wife Kathy) of Greenville, N.C.; and three sons, Charles (Chip and wife Wendy), David (wife Sue), and Philip (wife Maureen); and grandchildren, (Chip) Christine, Brian, and Nick; (Dave) Jordan and Nate, and (Phil) Maria and Ambrose; cousins, Ridgely Chichester, Betty C. Waters and Mary C. Ahlgren; nephew, Rick Klutey; and nieces, Anne K.B. Fisher, Jeana Aquadro-Crawford, Beth A. Johnson, Mary A. Caraveo and Martha A. Varney.

Born in Wilmington, Del., she was the daughter of Frederick E. Klutey and Cornelia Chichester. She was a lifetime member of Trinity Episcopal Church, where she and Larry were married in 1952.

She graduated from Tower Hill School with the class of 1949, and Centenary (Junior) College in 1951. An active tennis and golf player, in her youth, she was a one-time Wilmington Country Club Women's Junior Golf Champion and served as team captain of high school and college field hockey and basketball teams.

She worked at Wilmington Trust Company, prior to her marriage to Larry, in 1952. They lived briefly in Evanston, Ill, then Princeton, N.J, before settling in Chadds Ford in 1960.

Gracious, humble and kind, Anne was a devoted and caring mother, homemaker and community volunteer, serving on the Delaware Division Junior Board, Trinity Church Altar Guild, Chadds Ford Elementary PTA, and on Election Days, worked the Pennsbury Township polls. She was a member of the Chadds Ford Historical Society, Brandywine Conservancy, and Colonial Dames of Delaware. She enjoyed gatherings of family and friends, summer times in Rehoboth, and animals of all kinds - most especially her dogs.

A funeral service will be held at 1p.m. on Friday, Jan. 25, at Trinity Episcopal Parish, 1108 N. Adams Street, Wilmington, DE 19801. A private graveside service will follow at the Lower Brandywine Cemetery.
