Notes for Barbara Bird PYLE

Barbara Bird Pyle Robertson

AGE: 85 • Wilmington

Barbara Pyle Robertson died on Friday, January 23rd, 2015. She was born in Wilmington's Homeopathic Hospital on August 14, 1929. Mrs. Robertson was the daughter of Dana Jackson Pyle Sr. and Martha Hallam Patton Pyle and the step-daughter of Helen A. Hahn Pyle. Always known as Bobbie, she was from a family of Delawareans, attended local schools, graduated from Conrad High School and received undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of Delaware.

Descended from an artistic family, Bobbie supported the arts and music in Delaware. She was a member of the Friends of Brandywine Springs, the Delaware Genealogical Society, and was a life member of the Delaware Historical Society and the Sierra Club. Her biggest passion, however, was as an ally of animal rights organizations and saving homeless dogs. She was a great supporter of Faithful Friends and the Delaware Humane Association. Bobbie enjoyed sports growing up, owned horses for 30 years, and later in life was an avid tennis player.

Mrs. Robertson is survived by her husband of 66 years, Charles Lee Robertson, a brother Dana Jackson Pyle Jr., and children Kerry Lee Robertson, Randall Pyle Robertson (Danielle), Dana Lee Robertson and Lynn Suzanne Robertson Bishop; five grandchildren: Reed Charles Robertson, Alesha Marie Robertson and Morgan Michelle Robertson; Jeremy Robertson Bishop and Alexandra Pyle Bishop. Mrs. Robertson was descended from Thomas Bird, John Grubb and Robert Pyle, all early immigrants to this area, and from puritan Thomas Jocelyn who entered Massachusetts Bay in 1635.

At Mrs. Robertson's request, there will be no service, and interment will be private.
