Notes for Ruth M. BOOK

Ruth Book Frank Hickman, 92, passed away Friday, April 11, 2014.
She was a resident of Tel Hai Community, Honey Brook.
Ruth was born in West Chester. Her parents were Harry Harrison Book and Lillie Edna Shute.
She was preceded in death by her brother, H. Wayne Book, and sister, Laura Mae Hickman.
She grew up on farms in Goshenville and Westtown.
Ruth was a graduate of West Chester High School.
She worked as a bookkeeper for Fruit Growers of West Chester before her marriage to George Harold Frank. They moved to George's family's dairy farm in East Bradford Township, where they lived until his death in 1976. Ruth drove school buses for Kraft Bus Co. for 11 years.
She and George were active members of Goshen Grange #121. Ruth was awarded a lifetime membership in the Grange.
Ruth loved baking and cooking for her family. All of her life she grew flowers, memorizing the names of hundreds of flowers she grew from seed. She began painting in watercolor and oil at the age of 80. Her family proudly displays her paintings. Ruth loved music, playing piano and singing.
She was married to Lewis S. Hickman in 1977. In later years Charles B. Cleaver Jr. was her friend and companion.
Survivors are a daughter, Carol F. Darlington (Walter) of East Fallowfield; a son, George H. Frank Jr (Colette) of West Burke, Vt.; grandchildren, Christopher B. Darlington, Laura Duff (Tim), Paul Frank (Kristin) and Rachel Geiger (Alex); great-grandchildren, Jacob, Jackson, Keira, Aaron, Brock and Miles; also, a nephew, H. Thomas Sutton (Vicki) of West Chester.
Services will be held on Tuesday, April 15, at Tel Hai Chapel, Honey Brook. A viewing will be held from 10 to 11 a.m.
At 11 a.m. is the service of Christian burial, which will be followed by interment in Unionville Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Tel Hai Retirement Community, 1200 Tel Hai Circle, Honey Brook, PA 19344.
