Notes for Claude Stanton Jr. BONSALL

C. Stanton "Stan" Bonsall, 80, of Wilmington, Del., a decorated World War II veteran, died March 24 at home.

Born in Aston, he had been a resident of Norwood before moving to Wilmington in 1971.

Mr. Bonsall was staff manager for John Hancock Life Insurance in Media and Wilmington, Del., retiring in 1991 after 36 years with the designation of LUTCF.

He was a member of the VFW post in the Lenni section of Aston. An avid sports fan, he played football and basketball for Glen-Nor High School, where he graduated in 1945.

A coin collector, he was devoted to his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Mr. Bonsall served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was the recipient of the Asiatic-Pacific Medal, American Area Medal and the World War II Victory Medal.

He was the son of the late Hilda Bonsall Deardorff Phillips.

Survivors: Wife of 58 years, Lavinia M. Pierce Bonsall; daughters, Diane M. Penna of Wilmington, Debra A. Davis of Bethel; sons, Kenneth S. Bonsall of Wilmington, Larry W. Bonsall of New Castle, Del., Jeffrey A. Bonsall of Chalfont; brother, Donald Bonsall of Terre Haut, Ind.; sister, Shirley Manganaro of Pompano Beach, Fla.; 14 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren.

Service: 11 a.m. Friday at the Pagano Funeral Home, 3711 Foulk Road, Bethel.

Burial: Calvary Rockdale Cemetery, Aston.
