Notes for Henry Logan Jr. ALTAFFER

Henry Altaffer, age 89, of Bryan, Ohio, died at 11:44 A.M. on Saturday, January 5, 2013, at Bryan Care and Rehabilitation Center, where he was resident. Mr. Altaffer retired from Norfolk and Southern Railroad with over twenty years of service and then worked at Millers for thirteen years until he fully retired. He was a veteran of the United States Army Air Corps, serving during World War II, and was a member of Bryan Church of the Nazarene. He also enjoyed gardening and raising flowers. Henry Altaffer was born on May 8, 1923, in Jefferson Township of Williams County, Ohio, the son of H. Logan and Vera (Johnston) Altaffer. Survivors include two daughters, Diane (Ernie) Camarillo and Deborah Altaffer, both of Bryan; two sons, Joseph (Jeanie) Altaffer and Judson (Nancy) Altaffer, both of Bryan; two brothers, Merle (Rosemary) Altaffer and Ralph Altaffer, both of Bryan; two sisters, Gladys (Lowell) McGowen, of Bryan, and Vaneta (Walter) Hicks, of Montpelier, Ohio; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one son, Henry B. Altaffer, in 2007, one sister, Letha Landis, and an infant brother, Maurice. Grave side services will be held on Friday, January 11, 2013, at 1:30 P.M. in Floral Grove Cemetery, Pioneer, Ohio, with Pastor Walter Hicks officiating. Grave side military rites will be conducted by Bryan VFW Post #2489. Memorials are requested to Gideons International.
