Notes for Philip King MOOTS

MOOTS Philip King Moots, died Monday, April 2, 2007, at Logan Acres, Bellefontaine, Ohio. The son of Guy and Martha King Moots, Mr. Moots was born April 26, 1917, and graduated from Monroe High School in 1935. He was employed throughout his working life in the automotive industry as a manager, trainer, and popular speaker, retiring from his long-time employer, Sorensen Manufacturing Company, in 1980. In 1939, he married Margaret Shoots of Zanesfield, who preceded him in death in 1997. Mr. Moots is survived by their three children, Philip R. (Marilyn) Moots of Columbus, Ohio, Nita Moots (James) Kincaid of Sierra Madre, California and Rev. Paul A. (Robin) Moots of Mount Sterling, Ohio. Surviving grandchildren include Matthew J. Kincaid, Anne M. Kincaid, Elizabeth H. Kincaid, Rachel M. Cairney, Rebecca J. Head, Shaw Perrin, and Uri Perrin; great-grandchildren include Whitney, Eric, Giselle, Seth, and Margaret. In 1999, Mr. Moots married Mary E. Fraser of Zanesfield, who survives him, along with son Don (Beth) Fraser of Marysville, Ohio, and their two daughters Shea and Tess. An active church member all his life, his accomplishments at North Broadway and Zanesfield United Methodist Churches are especially notable. At North Broadway, he served on the Adult Council, helped institute the church bloodmobile, was an active participant in the Interfaith Hospitality Network, was instrumental in establishing a library for the blind, and was a member of United Methodist Men. As a member of the Zanesfield community, Mr. Moots served as a Sunday School teacher, was a member of the Pastor Parish Relations and Nominating committees, the Logan County Agrarian Club, the Johnny Appleseed Society, and the Ebenezer Zane Cabin Restoration Committee. Most recently, Mr. Moots was recognized as a sixty-year member of the East Liberty Masonic Lodge 247. The Reverend Bonnie Frost will officiate at a memorial service in celebration of Mr. Moots' life at the Zanesfield United Methodist Church, at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 5, 2007.
