Notes for Mildred C. POWERS

Mildred C. Powers Lobb, 85, of Ridley Park, former owner-operator of Lobb's Town and Country Dress Shop, died Jan. 9 at home.
Born in Reading, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Martin A. and Mabel Stover Powers. A resident of Ridley Park for the last 64 years, Mrs. Lobb previously lived in Reading. She owned and operated the Ridley Park dress shop from 1952 to 1984.
A member of Ridley Park Presbyterian Church, where she sang with the choir for many years, Mrs. Lobb was responsible for the costumes for the Christmas Nativity at the church.
She belonged to the Women's Club of Ridley Park and also sang with the club chorus. Mrs. Lobb served on the Junior Board of Taylor Hospital, the Child Study Club and was a former member of the Home and School Association while her children were in school.
Her son, Frank Lobb, said his mother ""will be well-remembered for her warmth, generosity and her capacity for laughter.'' She was the long-standing pastry chef for the Gas Light Restaurant, Ridley Park, which is owned by her other son, David Lobb.
Widow of Frank H. Lobb Jr., who died in 1986, she is survived by her two sons, Frank H. Lobb III of Nottingham and David P. Lobb of Ridley Park; two sisters, Gladys Sandman of West Chester and Janet Ruppert of Sinking Springs, Pa; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was the sister of the late Martin A. Powers Jr.
A memorial service will take place 11 a.m. Saturday at Ridley Park, Presbyterian Church, Swarthmore and Ridley avenues, Ridley Park, Pa.
